Hey everyone! Thought about making this video for a while. But, needed some time to organize my thoughts. There is a problem with social media for creatives. But, because there's so many ways to talk about it, I really wanted to break it down. Hopefully this provides some insight and helps anything feeling disillusioned. Enjoy! ◈ THEO'S CHANNEL ◈ ❚ @heycalatheo ◈ CHECK OUT MY GREASE PENCIL COUR...
My New Creative Project

Hey everyone, it's Kevin. Just wanted to talk about my new creative project, Theo! Theo is my easy-care desk plant I bought from the store a few months ago. And despite its odd nature, it really has been easy-care, but in ways I never expected. Narrative aside, this new project has been super fun for me. I've been wanting to try something new and creative something story driven for some time. A...

Hey everyone! Here's a breakdown of a 3D piece I originally made in 2D back in 2016. It's my rendition of a Disneyland attraction poster for "It's a Small World". Unfortunately, it's since been taken and sold without my permission a few years ago. I've moved on from that, but I thought I'd share the story of what happened. To make this scene, I used Blender 3D with Grease Pencil to create somet...

If I’d only known to just put my printer together and print BEFORE making adjustments. I managed to successfully print very little. 😂
my first printer was the ender 5 pro and then got an anycubic mono x 6k (resin printer) and now I have the bambu lab x1c with an ams
A Bambu being your first printer is crazy
Love this vlog style video!! 🤩 It was fun to watch. Excited to see what you make with your new printer!
Thank you!!
I know this has basically nothing to do with the video but how do you do the colors in your digital peaces? The way you make the color pop always looks amazing and I still can’t figure out how to do it myself. Is it something in compositing or the shader itself? I’ve watched your cake video like 100 times and I still can’t get the colors to pop in the same way. Love your videos man they are super inspiring keep up the amazing work
This is so exciting! Definitely makes me want to upgrade my printer! 😬 Also, that first Benchy is SO MUCH higher in quality than any I’ve ever done.
These printers do shake quite a bit due to the speed. Most people put them on top of concrete paver stones to help with that. For the filament you can buy a big tub that’s airtight and keep a bunch of silica beads inside, also if you want to store individually - 4L airtight cereal boxes work wonderfully and same as the tub, you can put the beads freely inside or print little bins to store the beads in the container
Needed this 😊 Was kinda intimidated at starting so I'm glad I'm not the only one lol
Ahah I'm glad! I was surprised with how easy it was to get started.
Please turn this into a series 😊
Hey! How did you make everythmove at the end? Can you please share a video on that
Sure, it's just a simple camera movement. Will see what I can do about a tutorial!
Hi!!! I know I just found you but THANK YOU!!! I was trying to figure out what those shaders do for the last 2 years. AND you're the one that made me understand. THANK YOU again!!!! BTW those aesthetics look amazing!! I tip my hat to you.
Thanks so much!
You deserve more subscriber...😊
Please is it possible we can Get step by step on how this was done?
Low key, what kind of plant is Theo, because if Theo is a calathea, they are the divas of houseplants
100% a calathea 😂
The day I got Theo. I feel like I was tricked. It’s definitely been a learning experience for sure. 🫠🪴 #b3d #plant #shorts
2:40 gizmo 7:30 B&W shader bnpr 9:25 no shadow ++++ 11:00 flowers 12:40 normals 14:05 GP 16:35 sculpt
Great refletions. But depends what is ones objective : popularity, story telling , selling direct to clients, sponsors. Being too layered and "random" makes one too imprevisible to sustain a public unless can build a threadline between them like many art channel do different midias but the storytelling or and aesthetics of the pieces are consistent.
this vid only has 88 views at the time im watching this
I know the feeling and you are 100% right
HOow do you lock the canvas in the 3d cursor?
As a comic artist, is RUclips a good platform for that? Like, in the community tab?
I wouldn't say the Community Tab exactly, but RUclips could work. However, I'd suggest adapting the comic for video. This doesn't mean changing what you already made like how I talk about Instagram influencing you to take a specific creative direction. But something like subtle animated panels or showing the panels in a sequence. That way, you can still tell the story you want to tell, but in a way that works for RUclips. Wherever you go, you'll have to do some adjusting, whether that's changing the size or the resolution. But it's more about not having to compromise your creative vision when doing so. Other platforms I've heard of for comic artists is Reddit. Or, Tumblr, but they're also going in the direction of AI and using your data. So, if that's not your thing, keep that in mind.
@@kevandram I see I see, thanks for the input!
appreciate the insight
No matter where you go, the internet is designed to take your data. Some companies are more transparent and/or “ethical” about it than others.
100% it's the risk you take, which unfortunately, isn't something that's widely understood.
Unfortunately, there’s little chance to NOT take that risk. This is just how we communicate, how we sell our services now. How are you supposed to be an artist off the internet?
@@thegeekclub8810 I agree, and I talk about this towards the end of the video. Understanding it's a risk means just that. If you’re thinking one app is going to be a lifeboat from another, it doesn’t work that way. It’s more about finding where you feel most comfortable taking that risk.
Lots of people are moving over to Cara, since it isn't selling out your art to AI
Unfortunately, with the current landscape, it's hard to believe any place on the internet is safe for your data. The reason being that if a company wants to stay competitive, they need to adapt somehow.
True, and even if a platform is good now, it may not always stay that way @kevandram
It's all turned into ThotHubs. Thats the issue.
How to create such flowy typography mesh? 🤷♂🤔🤔
Te quedó chingón
Los precios de tus cursos son en dolares?
Can all these be replicated in Autodesk Maya?
You saved my dream from being crushed thanks so much!!!!!
Great work, is their a tutorial on how you created those separation lines at the end using compositing.
Congratulations 🎊 and many thanks for your channel and tutorials. You inspire a lot! I am a self-teaching beginner. I see that your city scene is very dense in models , lights effects, and animation, and Blender on your side were able to cope with this scene apparently. I have a problem now with much less detailed city scene but Blender keeps shouting down (in modeling mode i even didnt try to render it yet) once I reached over a few million poly count. I tried to monetize the scene by substituting the duplicates with alt+d where possible, but the problem persists. My laptop is msi (gaming one) with Nvidea graphic card and 16 ram I thought it can endure more. What would you suggest from your experience?
Thanks for the kind words! I would try to work with less polys and perhaps use grease pencil wherever possible. Hope that helps!
Thanks sooo much to you! great tuto, & beautiful results
I love this! So cool how the lighting/focus also adapts with the environment- did you track Theo to camera and do compositing in Blender as well or use AE/Fusion? Could totally see this as an AR app
Thanks so much! It’s a combination with AE especially for some of the shadows and more VFX details. The animation is primarily done in Blender.
I love it that Theo has his own channel!
Given my name is Theo, my heart skipped a beat when I opened up RUclips today lol. Looks awesome though!
😂 thank you!!
I got stucked on the plants addons, after I donwload them I click the pencil and I can't change the color even if I select the vertex color option, it still has selected a material color (black or bronw). Neither the plant texture appears, it looks like a simple stroke. I really need help please :((((
Absolutely cute!! Love this!
Thanks so much!
Theo is such a clever and fun idea! I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
Me too!
You’re just so good at everything you do. The eyepatch is stylish too.
😂😂 thanks so much Tom I appreciate it!
Hope you're better soon!
Ahah thank you!!
How do you export the textures to other programs.. I have looked at so many tutorials and they are not explaining why the color ramp and shader to rgb are missing when you export the fbx to other programs… help🙏 Edited : head over to append and append any collection from your other blender files. Some guy from uni helped me figure it out
This looks really promising. I have nearly finished an animation and only then discovered the lack of shadow casting/receiving in grease pencil. Can't wait to try this out. Cheers!
Es mejor usar la pluma y no el ratón???
yes
:0 looks so tastyyyyyyyy
next thing you know he's going to be a water bender
Aww Theo's cute.
Water is not very effective against grass types!
this is soooo underrated
Would be interesting to hear your journey getting into Imagineering and your experiences so far
I'll probably make a video on that sometime soon :D
But like, how can I live there?
